Event Description:

Come down and join us for our Annual Run for Pie benefiting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Music Therapy Program.

So what do I get for my race fee? Well! We are all about experiences, not things. We are committed to keeping our race costs low, while offering you the very best experience we can! Our race is not competitive and is absolutely perfect for a first time runners and seasoned runners. The environment is always up beat and fun!

Every walker and runner will be rewarded with a slice of pie, complete with your choice of whip cream and/or vanilla ice cream. Pies are primarily purchased from Fifendekel, however because you choose the type of pie you would like, we also outsource from other bakeries or hand make our own pies. Gluten Free? No problem (we hope, unless you like GF apple then no problem)! We will do our very best to accommodate you!

The 5 km and 10 km course are suitable for all abilities and accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.

Our event is extremely family oriented, the kids run is a huge hit! We reward our pint size runners with a handcrafted cookie medal at the finish line! You have to be quick with the camera!

In addition, we always have a bouncy castle and tables set out with bubbles and coloring books.

About the Charity:

Music Therapy is a program that touches the lives of many children and promotes healthy coping strategies in the midst of hospital treatment. Music therapy sessions can be done individually at the child’s bedside or in small groups in children’s rooms or in a common area in the unit. There is also a weekly group session on The Beach, the largest playroom at the Stollery. The Music Therapy Program at the Stollery Children’s Hospital began in November of 2011 and is operated solely on donations.

Good job ladies, was a great event!

  7. Maria says:

Can small children accompany mum instead of doing the childrens run. My daughter and I are interested in taking part but would probably prefer to bring her little ones along with us because they are four and two. Thanks.

  8. Kristy Young says:

We had such a wonderful time at this run today. It was so great to include the kids in the event and they had a blast. All of your volunteers were kind and patient thank you for organizing this and we will be back again next year!!!

  9. Ben Mitten says:

Facebook says the race is chip timed. Last year there were no results posted. Makes no sense.

    • Jenny says:

      Hey Ben!
Our race has never been time chipped, we just wrote the results manually the last 2 years. I did send out a link with the results, but I know there was lots of discrepancies due to the amount of people who ran and the manual timing.
Here is the link to the 2014 results:

We are looking into time chipping this year, however because we are a small race and our priority is donations the cost of time chipping is very expensive for us. I do not have an answer just yet if we will be able to actually time chip this year unfortunately.

  10. Angela Connauton says:

Hi! I am signed up to run the 10km on May 24th. My 18 year old son was a patient a few times at the Stollery and is looking for a charity to volunteer for so this one really perked his interest. Are you in need of any additional volunteers? He has experience volunteering for road races. He did so with a race I participated in last year at the Edmonton Garrison (Iron Will). Please contact me by responding to this email or on my cell at 780-934-8140 if you would like his assistance and I will bring him along on Sunday 🙂

    Thanks!
    Angela
